At Warner Music Group, we’re a global collective of music makers and music lovers, tech innovators and inspired entrepreneurs, game-changing creatives and passionate team members. Here, we know that each talent makes our collective bolder and brighter.
Technology is one of the most important parts of our business. Whether it’s signing up new artists; ensuring we provide the right data  to Spotify, YouTube, and other digital service providers; or helping artists use the latest AI tools and make thoughtful decisions with data-driven insights – technology plays an invaluable role in our success. The engineering team at Warner Music Group makes all of it a reality.
WMG’s User Experience Team is looking for a Sr Researcher/Research Ops Lead who will help us lay the foundation for effective, organized and consistent research across the organization. The goal of the UX Team is two fold: to transform our digital product experiences to help artists, songwriters, producers, A&R, marketing and finance users build long lasting music careers for Artists and Songwriters, and to help Artists authentically connect with their fans.  Both helping to push boundaries and find new, innovative ways to improve our business.
Our research team is small and the majority of early user interviews and evaluative research is currently done by non-researchers. Our goal is to quickly establish processes and training to develop minimum quality standards for these team members, mostly designers, product managers, and product strategists. You will be responsible for developing and overseeing programs that help our team scale, foster learning and development, and evangelize our team and work.
You’ll get to:
  • Work at global scale, shaping how we work and supporting the most important products that power our business, furthering WMG’s position as the fastest growing major record label in the world.
  • Develop and lead programs that fully integrate user insights to elevate our product development process.

  • Develop and oversee maintenance of a globally accessible research repository.
  • Manage timely communications to executive leadership, as well as organizing engaging community share-outs.
  • Directly lead more complex projects requiring greater research rigor and expertise, including quantitative and qualitative studies such as Kano surveys, satisfaction surveys, IDIs, and contextual inquiries. The percentage of time spent directly on research work is expected to increase once initial research ops processes are in place.
  • Learn from and collaborate with folks from across the music and tech industry to grow your career and industry knowledge.
  • About you:
  • You have at least 5 years of job experience in a combination of mixed methods UX research and research operations roles working on digital technology products.

More advanced skills, such as cluster analysis or conjoint, will be viewed as a plus.
  • You must have a proven track record, demonstrated with relevant case studies, of bringing process improvement through the selection and implementation of appropriate tools to assist the research team, as well as developing training and onboarding content to ensure their successful adoption.
  • Your portfolio should also include research case studies that demonstrate research design and execution skills at the Sr. UXR level, including the ability to select appropriate methodologies, tie research to business needs, execute independently, and to work effectively with other functions to land product and strategy impact.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and can tailor them as needed to your audience.
  • You are proficient with project management tools and strive for clarity in planning and reporting.
  • You have strong collaboration skills and can work effectively with stakeholders in multiple functions to drive positive change, negotiating to outcomes and driving decision-making. You welcome feedback, are a good listener, and value a wide range of opinions and perspectives.
